Backup & disaster recovery

Most companies discover their backups are broken the day they need them. We design backup the other way around: assume things will fail, test restores monthly, and make sure the recovery process is documented and rehearsed.

What's included

The full scope. No surprises.

  • Cloud and onsite backups with immutable storage
  • 3-2-1 architecture by default (3 copies, 2 media, 1 offsite)
  • Microsoft 365 backup (mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Server, endpoint, and SaaS data coverage
  • Monthly restore testing — verified, not assumed
  • Documented disaster recovery runbook
  • Defined RTO and RPO per system
  • Annual full DR drill (optional but recommended)
How we work

The process. Simple, by design.

  1. 01

    Inventory

Catalog what data exists, where it lives, who owns it, and how critical it is. Everyone's surprised by how much sits in places nobody's backing up.

  2. 02

    Design

Set recovery time and recovery point objectives per system. Choose the right storage tier for each. Document the plan.

  3. 03

    Deploy

Backup agents installed, schedules tuned, retention configured, immutability locked in.

  4. 04

    Test

Monthly restore tests on real systems. If a restore fails, we fix it before you need it.

Common questions answered.

Doesn't Microsoft back up our M365 data?

Not the way you think. Microsoft handles infrastructure availability and short-term retention. They don't protect you from accidental deletion, ransomware on synced files, or compromised accounts wiping data. You need a separate M365 backup.

How fast can we restore after ransomware?

Depends on the size and type of restore — single files in minutes, full systems typically hours. Because we have immutable backups, the attacker can't encrypt or delete them. That's the whole point.

How long do you keep backups?

Default retention is 90 days short-term plus 1 year archive. Industries with compliance needs (HIPAA, financial) get longer retention configured to match.
